Nightcap. Vintage 2019.
Pours opaque, matte black. Timid carbonation lays a scanty, sand-colored lace ring that only faintly covers the entire surface. Unimpressive. However, as a ring, retention is long.
The scent seduces my senses at the first encounter: lovely soft Bourbon tangoes with dark chocolate, cacao nibs, elegant vanilla and distinct but neatly controled oak barrel. The positive side of the fragrance is that all the components are well in balance whereas the negative side is explicable with not that strong nuances.
That, nevertheless, comes corrected on the tongue. I love the hefty Bourbon that portrays powerful barrel nuances and a nice injection of vanilla. Bags of cacao nibs, raw chocolate and some brownie bring darker tones to the play. A drop of syrup leaves its sticky mark in the package. The balancedness is disturbed due to the brave Bourbon but it's not yet unpleasantly imbalanced either.
The body is full. A finish with Bourbon always comes with good warmth. This doesn't make an exception either. Bourbon elevates from the soaked barrel and merges with a diminished pinch of raw cacao nibs and a hint of brownie. The finish fails to provide anything else. The aftertaste toasts a snifter of Bourbon with the tastebuds and enjoys the supply over long time.
The mouthfeel is deep and mellow, smooth and rich. It's strongly barrel aged, a bit woody and boozy. The mouthfeel is also really intense and slightly lip-glueing. Absolutely slow but not particularly desserty.
