Duck River Dunkel 5.5%, Goat Island Brewing, United States
2 notes
Duck River Dunkel
5.5% Dunkel / Tmavý
This smooth, dark Bavarian style lager is all about the malts. It has a medium body and bready malt backbone but finishes dry. It is also our most prestigious beer. It won a silver medal at the Great American beer Festival in Denver in 2018. So you could say this is the 2nd best Dunkel in the United States. We think it’s Number 1! Delicious malty goodness, highly decorated. Taste it for yourself

Beertender poured down side of glass so small head. Clear deep red amber color, beautiful. Flavor gives an earthy sweet dark malt. Lightly toasted. Middle spikes a tender hop bitterness, shows traces of lemon peel. Finish stays with the earthy trait while turning slightly dry. Good beer, not great. Very happy to find this in a small town. Smooth from start to finish and very drinkable. Good brew from Culman, Alabama.

A hard month of 12 hours days at work finally over. Now a little time to enjoy my brews again. Back to Blackstone to enjoy a celebration of getting our CO. Goat Island Brewing seems very proud of this Dunkle. Hope it can compete with the Warsteiner, which is my favorite. It's on tap so no head to speak off. Beautiful red Amber color. Crystal clear and deep in color. Typical Dunkel aroma. Light and crisp mount feel. Has the earthy and burnt flavor I expect and enjoy, but has more hops than I would like. A mild bitterness comes in the middle and continues through the very smooth finish. Well balanced, no real surprises. A very good beer. Best I've had aside from the Warsteiner.
