Holi piilossa. Toistan itseäni, loistava olut.

Parivuotias Silver avattu. Pullotettu 1.7.2020 viiden vuoden päiväyksellä. Konjakkia, tummaa kaakaota, vaniljaa ja espressoa. Ihan perkeleen hyvä Silveri tuoksultaan eikä makukaan kauaksi jää.

From yesterday. Finally got myself to take out my new Stout life-glass to the test. Perfect for a small bottle.  On the nose distinctive cognac, oaky barrel and dry wood, brown sugar and some chocolate. Roastiness is there too. Pours deep dark and opaque in color with actually a really dark reddish brown turning color that settles into a mocha brown color. It's less than a finger, big bubbles and hence really airy. Retention then is swift but leaves some of the foam on the surface, it's uneven and scattered and gives me a feel of a small pond in the middle of the marshes. And what's left of it, stays there.  I poured it way too cold so I let it rest a quite some time before the first sip. Flavour of cognac, not sharp or too strong and 14 % abv stays away from the palate. Sweetness from brown sugar and chocolate. Roasty, oak barrel and a bit dry wood note in the finish. I get also some coffee. Halfway through comes a berry-like scent as I swirl the substance in the glass, I didn't get that in the beginning. Gave also a bit of sticky lips. Mouthfeel is a bit too thin and light I must say. Alcohol hidden as I mentioned earlier. This is good but lacks that final wow-effect to me. Drinkability is definitely easy.  Barcode led to Tumeaine Laphroaig BA 2018 version. Best before is July 1st 2025 and assumably bottled in July 2020 so has had some time to rest in the bottle to get rid of that sharp cognac that I read some had experienced when fresh.  Now I have to be honest. I don't recall if I got this as a gift or did I pay for it and got delivered to me. Well there aren't many options so if you recognise yourself then holla at me in the comments and tell me. 😊
