Tomorrow trip to the Lapland begins!
And finally something else from this brewery other than Imperial Pastry Stouts! Looking forward to this one.
Bottled 12/2019
Temperature: +15 C
Red-brown colored beer with surypy texture. Small head, very good retention. The texture is just lovely thick. Looks nice when you swirl this around the glass: 4,5/5
The aroma is malty-sweet with marmalade fruitiness, some citrus, and licorice. Alcohol notes feel edgy but not boozy or anything negative. Just very noticeably and the alcohol presence eventually gets some sweet red wine like hues. Otherwise very good aroma, but doesn't get deep enough to challenge the best Barleywines: 4/5
Mouthfeel is full and just overall big as it should be. Nice work! Also, the full-body stays in the mouth even after the sip. Alcohol gives a pleasant touch and bitterness is strongly present. Yes sir: 4,75/5
Taste is malty-sweet with residual sweetness as well. With a less bitterness, this could be overly sweet but the bitterness dries up the flavor nicely and the hop gives a citrusy taste that complements the "bitter flavor" nicely. There's also lots of fruitiness and mild toast-ish flavor going alongside with all the bitterness. But the same thing as the scent: everything looks good on paper but the actual flavor doesn't have the awesome depth. It's just big. The sweetness could be too much for some people: 11,75/15
Nice to see that Nerdbrewing can handle other styles as well and not just Pastry Stouts. How about IPA or some other Paler style next? This one is a solid, very tasteful Barleywine. Not the best since the complexity is not world glass and the taste is at the edge of being too sweet. But I'd gladly have these kinds of Barleywine anytime: 15/20

Erinomainen ohraviini. Yllättävän hyvä. Täytyypä alkaa pitää silmällä tätä panimoa.
