I will give La Meltingpote another chance. IPA with 6.8 % shouldn't be lame. I hope...
Semiclear amber beer with rich carbonation unleashes a velvety off-white head that builds up to one finger. The long retention sustains life in the thick foamy lid. The beer's precious aromas are well protected here.
The scent is even more impotent than that of the previous beer. It's a strange medley of grassy dry hops and bitter caramel.
The tongue finds bigger flavors than what the shy olfactory provision suggests. I receive grapefruit peel, resin – quite a slam actually –, a pinch of dried apricot, a sigh of bitter caramel and something odd, can't say exactly what. As if diacetyl but then not really.
The body is light-medium to medium. Not bad for the ABV. Nothing phenomenal either. The finish intensifies the odd flavor but fortunately not to the level of disturbance. Otherwise, slightly tangier but the composition remaining the same anyway. Fairly long duration.
The mouthfeel is thin, crisp, dry, drying and marginally tangy. Even slightly alcoholic. Not a winner this one either. Flavorwise bigger than the previous beer but cleanness is not the asset here. Okay, maybe no more La Meltingpote beers for the time being.
