The normal version of the Rasputin is one of my favorite beers from De Molen. Hopefully, I chose a good nightcap.
Bottle. Bottled on 1.11.2019
Temperature: +14 C
Dark brown color. Foam starts to look airy at first but then transforms into a creamy layer. The foam doesn't last on top very long time except at the edges but the foam increases every time you swirl the glass: 4,5/5
The nose has a smooth roasty aroma that comes together with dark fruity sweetness then the aroma takes turn towards the brown sugar and rum aroma. Nicely done: 4,25/5
Mouthfeel is medium-full, soft. It seems to have aged pretty well in the barrels. Alcohol comes right after the sip and warms the body and mind nicely. I'd like a bit more roastiness in this one: 4,25/5
Taste of dark fruit sweetness, rum, oak, chocolate, minor coffee, medium intensity roastiness. Oak flavor finishes the beer and lingers in the mouth after sip for a long time: 11,75/15
Solid beer. Good barrel aging. I think this needs more ballsy roasted aromas and flavors plus overall more complexity to be really great. Seems to be quite ready to drink despite a young age (only three months in the bottle. And of course on top of that the time spent in barrel ). I'm having a hard time imagine this would age to be significantly better by any means since this is so smooth even now: 15,75/20
=40,5/50
