Itselleni ensimmäinen olut De Molenilta. Tynnyrikypsytetty barley wine. Pullotettu 1.11.2019.
Syvän tumman punertavan ilmeen omaava olut lasissa.
Maku on vähän liiankin makea omaan makuun.

My Barleywine tooth was aching.
If I'm right, this beer has aged 12 months in whisky barrels and those barrels have been wine barrels before being used in Whisky making. So I'm expecting a really complex flavor. Also, a new beer in Pint Please.
Bottle. Bottled on 1.11.2019
Temperature: +13,5 C
Deep red color with good clarity. The head is small but lasts a long time. This has lots of big carbonation bubbles in there that's worries me: 4,25/5
The red wine aroma seems to be dominating as the whisky is really mild. There's some oak and vanilla aroma (almost like a bourbon barrel). Interestingly there seems to be berry/fruity like sweetness that sometimes can be found in Brettanomyces beers. And at the first sip, I even pick up some vinegar-ish aroma. Could this be infected? That would explain the seemingly high carbonation. Rest of the aroma is malty with some caramel undertones: 4,25/5
Mouthfeel is medium but soft. Medium-low carbonation so thankfully not overly high carbonation. No perceived bitterness. Some kind of tart feel, which could further indicate there's some brett. Alcohol warmth has mildly vinegar touch: 4/5
Taste is red wine-ish, oak, fruity, alcoholic. No vinegar taste. Light malty flavor. Complex yes but not the most Barleywine Barleywine: 11/15
Seems contaminated or then there's just something really weird that should not be in a Barleywine. I don't mind it though since I'm a huge fan of Brettanomyces beers and it adds complexity and mystical weirdness in this one. But do I love this? No, no I don't. I wanted a solid Barleywine and this definitely isn't one: 14/20
