Perinteisempi kahvivoittoinen IS. (2+8+4+9+16=39) 3,9

Nightcap by Left Hand. The beer pours opaque, oily billiant black. The rather tame carbonation builds a silky, cappuccino-colored head that can't even beat half a finger. Nevertheless, the descending neat lace ring wafts the surface for significantly long. Very few minuscule dots can be spotted later on the glass. The fragrance is astonishingly oppressed: faint licorice and raw cacao powder are the only components I find. And even they are nearly absent. The taste profile offers colossal licorice, cough syrup, roasted rye malt as well as introvert bitter mocha. Behind the curtain, I find distant raw chocolate, a suggestion of prune and an unexpectedly visible hoppy twist. Alcohol (10.2 %) remains beautifully hidden. The body is medium to medium-full. The beer ends with slightly bitter licorice, bitter coffee beans, roasted rye malt and a sip of cough syrup. The hoppy nuance still lingers on the sides of the tongue but prune is gone. The aftertaste teases the tastebuds over medium to long duration. The mouthfeel is medium-full, strong, truly medicinal, a bit sticky and lip-glueing. It's also slightly tangy, roasty and distantly dry and bears even crisp parameters. Appealingly deep but unfortunately rather one-dimensional and offers no layers. NOTE: The barcode leads to Wake Up Dead Nitro.

Bottle. Bottled on:? Temperature: +13 C Very dark brown beer. Fluffy and "soft" looking head stays on top for a good amount of time, finally revealing the beer's surface. The foam sticks to the glass tightly: 4,5/5 Roasty dry, coffee, chocolate with a hint of raisin and dark fruits. Very basic but well build and pleasant: 4,25/5 Mouthfeel is medium-full with some creaminess rounding this up nicely before the dark sting stabs the mouth! Medium-low carbonation. Solid bitterness. There's some excellent depth in this one. Just a touch of alcohol: 4,5/5 Taste has the same elements as the scent but with more complex dark fruity notes and deeper malt characteristics. No alcohol at the taste but the intensity of the flavor tells this is a strong beer: 12/15 I'd say this is a pitch-perfect example of what a Russian Imperial Stout should be! Dark, complex with lots of things going on in beautiful harmony. That said, this is nothing more, no out of this world or anything. But that's the reason I bought this: I wanted a solid RIS and I knew Left Hand can give me that. And I know right. This is beautiful: 17/20 =42,25/50

Open another Imperial Stout while watching Alabama football, Roll Tide! And it's also Left Hand. Low head, very tan in color but not thick. Aroma is a little fruity. Mouthfeel is creamy but still light. Taste is strong with bitter chocolate and the alcohol comes through. Has roasted notes on the finish along with the 10.2 percent, and it lasts. Love this one.
