Starting friday with a beer I have been holding on for a while, hope it has developed well.
Brouwerij De Molen Rasputin Bourbon BA,
Pours pitch black with a minimum foam. The aroma is pretty subtle, but the bourbon is quite dominant and sharp in there. There is some dark berries, oak, brown sugar and malts present also.
The mouthfeel is very soft, very low carbonated but still quite full.
Nice mocha, espresso and liquorice begins the taste off, quickly having the bourbon tagging along with brown sugar and malts. Some caramel also present, turning the taste from dry and roasty to quite sweet. Finishes rather sticky, oily and bitter.
Medium to full bodied, not so full as I would've expected for a 11,4% beer to be. But very nicely balanced with the sweetness and roastiness, and alcohol nicely present, not overloading the taste. The bourbon taste has developed into a more intense one, not noticing much more. Maybe the presence of caramel sweetness and fruits a bit more highlighted. Overall a great Bourbon BA beer from one of my favourite breweries. 4.25/5
