Belgian dark golden blond quadruple with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. First aging took place in St.-Emilion oak wine barrels from Tour Baladoz. Bourbon barrels from Kentucky were next due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors.
Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barrels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.

This has been in my beer cellar for almost four years.
A beer with a big reputation. Barreled in many different barrels, after which it was allowed to develop for a long time in a bottle. It is not common for Belgian beer to go through a Bourbon barrel.
A nice caramel scent, with raisins as well.
I don't know if there is much left of that Bourbon barrel now, but you can tell it's there. Vanilla is still included.
This warms your mouth and chest nicely. I think it has aged really well. The mouthfeel is smooth, dry, long and warming.
In the taste: caramel, raisin, vanilla, dried fruits and a little alcohol.
The aftertaste is dry, soft and raisiny.

Olut, jolla on iso maine. Tynnyröity vaikka missÀ ja pullossa saanut sen jÀlkeen kehittyÀ pitkÀÀn. Ei ole yleistÀ ettÀ belgialainen olut kÀy Bourbon - tynnyrin kautta.
Mukavan karamellinen tuoksu, jossa myös rusinaa.
En tiedÀ onko tuosta Bourbon - tynnyristÀ nyt niin paljoa enÀÀ jÀljellÀ, mutta kyllÀ sen huomaa. Vaniljaa on edelleen mukana.
TÀmÀ lÀmmittÀÀ kivasti suuta ja rintaa. MielestÀni on pysynyt oikein hyvin kasassa. Suutuntuma on ryhdikÀs, pehmeÀ, kuivahko, pitkÀ ja lÀmmittÀvÀ.
Maussa: karamellia, rusinaa, vaniljaa, kuivattuja hedelmiÀ ja hieman alkoholia.
JÀlkimaku on kuiva, pehmeÀ ja rusinainen.

Tuoksu on tÀynnÀ todella maanlÀheisen kypsÀÀ, tummaa hedelmÀÀ, pehmeÀn leipÀisÀÀ mallasta, punaviinistÀ hilloisuutta sekÀ hieman vaniljaista viskisyyttÀ.
Maku on todella pehmeÀ ja liukas. Suutuntuma aika kiva tÀllaiseen belgiin. KypsynyttÀ moninaista hedelmÀisyyttÀ; luumua, taatelia, omenaa ja viininomaista rypÀleisyyttÀ. Todella syviÀ ja runsaita makuja.
Myöskin sellaista makean limppuista mallasta hienoisen keksisyyden kanssa nousee esiin, tuoden lisÀÀ pohjaa muille mauille. Kypsytys tÀssÀ on todella pehmentynyt, tuoden vain punaviinistÀ hilloisuutta ja lopussa vaniljaista kevyttÀ viskin henkÀystÀ palettiin mukaan.
Varmasti olisi ollut aiemminkin juontikypsÀÀ, nyt jo aikamoista linnunmaitoa, toki helvetin hyvÀÀ sellaista đ»

Pullotettu 7/2016, pitÀisi siis olla tarpeeksi kypsynyttÀ. Tuoksu on todella kypsÀn hedelmÀinen. Punaviininen marjaisuus on vahvana, kuten myös perinteiset quadimaiset tuoksut. Kenties pientÀ viskiÀ lopuksi.
Sitten se maku, huh! On pehmeÀÀ ja pyöreÀÀ. Kuivaa ja kypsÀÀ hedelmÀisyyttÀ, marjaisuutta punaviinitynnyristÀ ja lopuksi pehmeÀÀ lÀmmittÀvÀÀ viskiÀ. Kuivahko ja lÀmmittÀvÀ hiukan viskinen jÀlkimaku. Punaviinitynnyri on vahvasti vielÀkin esillÀ.
Huippukunnossa on tÀmÀ olut. Aika on varmasti tehnyt tÀlle hyvÀÀ. Pullotuksesta on aikaa yli neljÀ vuotta ja tynnyrikypsytetty neljÀ vuotta ennen sitÀ. KyllÀpÀ osui ja upposi.

From the Christmas calendar.
Vintage 2012. Bottled on 12.7.2016 (so about 4,5 years old! + the four year barrel aging. Loving that ideađ)
Temperature: +12 C
Dirty, light amber colored beer. Very fast head. Plenty of carbonation it seems: 2,5/5
The nose is vinous with herbal and spicy aromas. Some kind of interesting cherry and sour plum scent as well. Well aged, fascinating aroma: 4,75/5
Mouthfeel feels surprisingly young (but not raw). Carbonation is medium-high, some bitterness and yeast affect the mouthfeel as well. Only mild alcohol notes, as these kinds of beers should have. Very nice! 4,5/5
The taste starts with a sweet malty and plum/raisin flavor. Then comes alcohol with again vinous-like character. Feels oaky, bit Bourbon-ish as well. Some earthy and herbal hues at the end. Complex and vivid flavor: 13,5/15
Extremely well aged beer! So goodâ€ïžbrilliant complexity and overall strong beer. But yet, easy to enjoy. This might be the best aged beer I've had, at least I can't remember anything that would've felt better. But I do remember worse ones, far too many actually: 18,5/20
