2.12.2020 pullotettu. Mustaa on ja kaunis keltapunaruskea vaahtokin pintaan nousee, toki valitettavan vähäksi aikaa. Pientä haituvaa jää kuitenkin oluen pinnalle kellumaan ja lasin reunalla kiertää parin millä leveä ja korkea kiekko. Tuoksu on muhkean turpeinen, savuinen, rukiinen ja makean karamellinen. Viskin henkäys leijuu laajalti ja hallitsee. Suutuntuma on täyteläisen pehmeä. Hentoinen, savuisan viskinen poreilu leijuu hiljalleen pitkin suun sopukoita. Maku on jopa yllättävän kuivahko, tamminen, turpeinen ja savuinen. Mukana on lakritsisia ja lievän yrttisiä tunnelmia. Ihan mukavasti tämä maalailee Islay- tunnelmia, mutta hieman yksioikoiseen tyyliin. Hyvää ja hidasta naatiskeltavaa joka tapauksessa.

Day #4 of Advent Calendar. The style definition is long: Whisky Rye Imperial Brown Porter Islay Blend Barrel Aged. I'm exhausted of reading it out back and forth. Vintage is 2020. The beer colors muddy, very deep dark brown. Shy carbonation serves a tawny, velvety head that remains slightly below one finger. It melts downward but retains as a thick erratic lace ring on the surface for considerably long. Looks attractive. Islay comes through bravely in the scent. I enjoy copious smoke and peat but also a fairly unmistakable proposal of sea salt. I can also identify sweet rye, licorice root, caramel and a suggestion of burned grass. The fragrance is still surprisingly sweet candy-like despite the distinct Islay characteristics. The powerful smoky Islay doesn't leave my tastebuds cold either. Smoke whirls into the peaty bed nicely. Licorice sings siren songs in the proximity. Heavy soaked oak barrel and a pinch of raw chocolate can additionally be tasted. Well well... this is far from balanced but if you happen to adore Islay whiskies, this may hit the target. The body is full. The finish slams the whole Islay nature against my face and seals the experience with oak barrel. The aftertaste sits in a grand leather armchair, watches fireplace to mesmerize the senses and sips tasty Scotch. The mouthfeel is strong, intense, mellow and smoky. It's heavily barrel aged and also interestingly candy-like plus lip-glueing. Massive Islay reduces the balancedness drastically and renders the package rather straightforward. Complexity remains wanting.

Islay-viskitynnyröity ja joulukuun 3. päivä 2018 pullotettu imperial porter. Tuoksussa on tälle panimolle tuttua nuotion savua, viskiä, puutuhkaa, mallasta, kahvia sekä kaakaota. Maku on aikalailla tuoksun kaltainen, tuhkaa, nokea kahvia ja tynnyriä. Hieman raskas ja kuiva kokonaisuus. Ja kieltämättä tylsä vaikka tässä onkin ihan ok runko.

Laphroaig scent. Taste is mildly whiskey-like, and there's nothing noticeable after that. Like that barley wine I had couple weeks ago. Barrel just overtakes the beer itself.
