Schneider Weisse Tap 6 Aventinus Weizen-Doppelbock
8.2% Weizenbock
For golden moments by the fireplace: "Mein Aventinus" - the wholehearted, dark ruby coloured wheat beer, intensive and fiery, warming, well-balanced and tender. Bavaria's oldest wheat "Doppelbock" - brewed since 1907! Its sturdy body in combination with its sweet malty aroma is an invitation to profound indulgence - an ingenious blend with a strong body. Perfectly matches rustic dishes, dark roasts and sweet desserts.

Not sure what to make of this one but it was very tempting. Nice looking bottle, gives a lovely pour and leaves an intriguing body of dark brown with a deep haze and a golden hue around the edge. Aromas of banana and wheat, like a traditional Weiss, but then the bock tones roll in with a tonne of toffee, some sweet biscuit and lots of dried fruits. This has a great mouthfeel, medium bodied, with hefty foam and light carbonation. The 8.2% ads a great depth and warmth which does a great job of complimenting the sweetness. The taste is like the scent but with a few enhancements. It opens with the Weiss notes, with a little extra banana, coriander and clove, then into the sweet tones with extra sweet biscuit, this time more like caramel than toffee with the fried fruits getting individual recognition, sultanas, raisins and cranberries. A great big beer, big notions and big flavours. It has a high abv but it goes down so easy that I'd love to have another.

Dazu malzig-brotig. Erinnert an dunkles Vollkornbrot. Insgesamt gut ausgewogen.

Lots of clove and lots of alcohol, it's too medicinal for my tastes, finding it difficult to drink.
