Time to review the Teerenpeli girls' contribution to the beer scene in this not-so-serious brewing contest organised by the Helsinki-based restaurant and brewery. The boys' beer was reviewed on 30 April.
Murky, deep copper beer with reasonable, short-lived carbonation unleashes a cream-colored, small-bubbled head that fails to reach one finger's height. The foamy cap descends gradually to a neat lace ring on top. The retreating foam marks the glass with thick coverings.
The scent is astonishingly mild: I can only depict modest hops and a faint citrusy note.
The tongue experiences very easy, fresh pale malt with a shy hoppy twist. A moderate grainy nuance accompanies thin grapefruit peel.
The body is light, almost thin. The beer finishes quite rapidly with light-hoppy pale malt and a barely recognizeable citrusy aroma.
The mouthfeel is very light, refreshing, thinly crisp and tries to be also summery. It's, unfortunately, also too simple, relatively vapid, somewhat powerless and flat.
Not bad but comes clearly second in this game in my opinion. The real order will, nevertheless, be determined on the basis of which beer is first sold out: I have tasted two equal amounts of the two beers which is neutral to the final verdict.
