Copper colour and caramel, raisin and fig notes. An interesting and complex beer, one I shouldn’t have had after a white wine and a cocktail. Judges label: Would have another

First of all, I want to take my word back on what I said about Flying Dodo Brewing Company. I said it would be the first and only microbrewery in Mauritius. I was wrong! 🙈 Just found a beer from another Mauritian microbrewery called Oxenham Craft Brewery. 👏🏻 I have now Oxenham's "The Thirsty Fox Amber Ale" in front of me. The beer colors clear copper. The moderate carbonation lays an off-white, velvety that reaches one finger. The fragrance puts forward some caramel malt and a tad multigrain bread. The olfactory experience is relatively limited. The taste profile offers light-grassy hops and bitter caramel malt, accompanied by a bit of crackers and truly faint raisin. The body is light to light-medium. The beer ends with bitter caramel malt, brown bread and a noticeable yeasty note. The aftertaste rolls on tongue for some time. The mouthfeel is light, moderately crisp, clean, balanced and very gluggable. Nothing spectacular but fairly reasonable for the local standards. And of course happy to see the evolution of the African beer universe. 🇲🇺👍🏻
