Just turned Christmas a few minutes ago so Merry Christmas! 🎄🍻This is Boulevard's limited release 2022 addition. We Duoed this in August and liked it even though Boulevard said that it's best enjoyed by December 2022. We both had a bottle left over and decided to try it again.
Even though it's a chocolate beer, it's still an ale with a deep yellow color. Massive amount of particulates floating around and some large ones on the bottom. I think that's new. Aroma has vanilla and a fruity Ash characteristic. Flavor is vanilla forward early with milk chocolate right behind. Add to that a farmhouse ale and fermented fruit quality. Don't think this was apparent before. This is not the delicious beer that got a 4.1 just 4 months ago. I'm not going to give it a reduced rating since it's clearly 2 years past it's recommended best quality time. Ryan and I have had many beers well passed the recommended user date and have enjoyed them nevertheless. Some beers age and some beers don't. I love Boulevard, not their fault that this did not age well. Should have trusted them.

A Duo beer with my son-in-law and daughter, a chocolate ale from Boulevard.
She loves it but not so much for me. The chocolate was subdued and the vanilla was excellent but more dominant. Of course with Boulevard there was nothing artificial about it. A good ale with the added raw vanilla bean and a splash of milk chocolate behind it. Good but I was hoping for more from a limited release Boulevard Brew.

Chocolate aroma. Taste has chocolate and some vanilla. Not an overwhelming amount of chocolate, but it's definitely there. Medium body with a medium-low carbonation. I like it but don't love it. It delivers what it promises. I think this would work better as a stout. 3.5/5

A little disappointed as I thought this was more of a stout. It is just a chocolate ale Has a lot of cocoa with a touch of vanilla. Not much more to it. A 3 as I shouldn't devalue based on my expectation. It is one sided tho
As I finish up and it warms a little I get a little more of a nutty taste with a touch of oak. Some dark berries too. Not enough to change the 3 rating - which I will add is a 3 at best.
