Transfer @ CPH 🇩🇰 We have about 5 hr layover, so we had initially planned to go to downtown Copenhagen for some time. However, Denmark closed the borders yesterday for all who don't have a Danish or Swedish passport or otherwise a very convincing reason to be allowed to enter the country. We thought that having a lunch and a few good beers in downtown would probably not qualify as a good enough a reason, so we are here at the airport which is by the way deserted. Fortunately, there's the Mikkeller bar here. Good beer is guaranteed. Interestingly also, our flight was one of the very last Air Canada flights from Toronto to Copenhagen; the company announced suspension of those flights on 17 March and onwards. This beer pours semiclear, amber. The reasonable carbonation creates a pure white, silky head that falls short of half a finger's measure. The retention is substantially long. The scent offers brut sparkling wine, lemon zest, lemon peel, fermented green grapes and a good injection of wild yeast. The tongue receives massive brut sparkling wine and wild yeast. The sour fruity side contains hefty lemon zest, grapefruit peel, fermented green grapes and raw white gooseberry. A whitepeppery twist follows in the fair distance. The body is light-medium. The beer finishes with whitepepper, lemon zest and grapefruit peel. I can also still detect a loud shout of wild yeast. The aftertaste forces the tastebuds to grind teeth for a relatively long time. The mouthfeel is juicy, fairly light, strongly tart and seriously puckering. It's also massively acidic and dry but not particularly mouth-drying. Furthermore, the mouthfeel is funky, Belgiany and somewhat Lambic-y. Attractive! 💛💛
