Aivan perkeleen kova mahansekoittaja!

Konstikas. Kotona pannun Ipan fiilistä. Hedelmäisyyttä mutta jotenkin jää puolitiehen. Plussaa jännästä kirpeästä jälkimausta kitalaessa. Flirttailee sourien suuntaan. Alkuun jotenkin mutkikas, mutta paranee siemaus siemaukselta.

Totally muddy, medium-brown Sahti with a nice orange hue pours from tap. Yes, from the tap! This is interesting already as a starting point; I have actually never seen Sahti on tap.
The surface is decorated by a beautiful, silky head that is colored slightly yellowish creamy and boasts of dense, mousse-like texture. The foam rises less than half a centimeter high but floats on top throughout the entire drink.
So, here we have a Sahti with a neat, long-sustained head! That's also something that is completely new to me.
The nose is equally surprised: the faint but clearly recognizeable nuance of Finnish savusauna (= traditional chimneyless smoke sauna) is truly lovely. The smoky aroma in the scent is, however, so subtle and soft -- and not umamish -- that smoked ham is not what comes to my mind. I have nothing against smoked ham but smoke sauna is a true heaven!
The palate is really delicious. I mean Really Delicious! An extremely silky soft and smooth aroma of medium-sweet bun filled with licorice sauce is the first idea that my brain generates. Soon also a bit of sweet brown bread and relatively distant banana make their way forward to my consciousness. This is absolutely among the best Sahtis I've ever tasted. Crazy! I have to pinch my arm to see if this is real.
The body is full. It's one more feature of this beer that astonishes me. 6.66 % is not so much to make the body this robust. These guys have really succeeded in the production process!
The end is reasonably soft, leaving a distinct aroma of semisweet bread, some thin banana juice and a biscuity note lingering long on the tongue. The duration of the finish is long.
The mouthfeel is exceptionally round and smooth, truly velvety. It's also nicely full, unexpectedly rather refreshing (can Sahti be that...?) and escapes from being lip-glueing.
This sets a new standard for the Sahtis from now on. This is my 12th Sahti in Pint Please and third five-star Sahti. If possible, this should be 5.5/5. Simply a masterpiece!
