July 3rd 2026 having a refreshing brew before the big festivities tonight. They are planning a huge crowd to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. Going to try their Italian pilsner. Medium yellow, clear, small white head. Much too low on the malt and a little strong on the expected hop bitterness. There is no sweetness at all and turns dry on the finish. It's Italian, so all of that is fine, accept it could have used more flavor.

Dropped in at Back Forty Brewing for a quick, refreshing beer on a very hot July 3rd. 🇺🇸 Sours, like IPAs, have come a long way. Hated IPA's when they were so bitter but once they mellowed down, I really enjoy them. Same with sours. They have gone from super sour to only tart. I like tart. Bartender said they have just released this today. It's 11:15 AM, they opened at 11 and I am first to try this draft sour. That's perfect, right!! Life is good today. 😄🍺 This scarlett and hazy berry sour has a brute quality. Light, refreshing, a bit dry. Berry flavor is a melody of blueberry, blackberry and purple grape which gives it a trace of wine🍷 characteristic. Wow! When did I become a sour drinker?

On my son's back porch having another Back Forty Brewery sour ale. What a crazy beautiful day. Aroma is unpleasant, smells like decayed flowers. Hazy light yellow. Much better flavor. Lemon and far in the background there is some pineapple on the exhale breath. Disappointed that I can't find the pomegranate. That great flavor eludes me. But rhis is another sour that I can happily drink. Not sour, it's tart. Tart is good. Wish I had another.

We are here on the porch at Back Forty Brewing after my granddaughter's soccer game.Thought I had had every beer they brewed, but here's a sour. Light yellow color with foggy haze. Lemon aroma. Texture is exactly what I needed, crisp and refreshing. It is like one of those hard candy lemon drops. Not sour at all. Cleanly tart. I love this. Perfect afternoon porch beer.

It's been over 5 years since I rated this beer. I've gotten to where I can enjoy IPA beer better now. This is one of Back Forty's most popular beers. Strong citrus aroma, pineapple and a touch of lemon in the background. Started with a nice frothy head and it's definitely hazy. I mean like really hazy with some sediment on the bottom of the glass. My first review was correct and it is a very low bitterness level, I like that. The flavor is is excellent and reminds me of some of the Clown Shoe IPAs I enjoy. Definitely bringing this up from a 3.4.

So relaxing to be here with my son and his wife. Kicking back and having a West Coast IPA. Really! Not too bitter for this category. Grapefruit, lemon and some black pepper on the end. It has a bitter level that does not offend me so I'm actually enjoying it.

At the brewery with family having a nice afternoon. Beautiful day to enjoy some new beers. This is a very mild stout, only 4.5 %. Brief malt aroma. Crisp texture. Dark malt, a gentle roast with some hop bitterness.
