Alright, catching up... Advent Calendar #️⃣1️⃣4️⃣. Interesting, this isn't an Imperial Stout but a Warley Bine. Barley Wine. The barrel is Amarone red wine.
The beer is dressed in relatively foggy brown. Not very dark but not light either. The carbonation is slightly timid but produces an off-white fluffy head that rockets three fingers high. The foamy crown shrinks to a generous whipped-creamy lace ring and a fragile haze on the top.
The nose... well, gets disappointed. Restrained. Considerably. Sweet malt and date in the air. But astonishingly weak.
If the scent leaves room for improvement, the taste lifts the experience higher. Much higher. I spot date, raisin, dried plum, sweet malt, syrup and cane sugar. Sweet red wine escorts the cocktail, quite moderate though. A remote oaky twist follows in the shadows.
The body is full, though not robust. A sweet aftertaste, with raisins, date and prune.
The sensation is full, deep, lip-glueing, gentle and desserty. Barrel aged. But not vinous despite Amarone. Seductive in any case.
Yess, back in the game!

I'm running behind with the advent calendar beers... Now Advent Calendar #️⃣1️⃣3️⃣. Again from yesterday. This is the second one of the Baden Power series, this time rum barrel aged.
Looks opaque black as expected. The carbonation is restrained but the emerging fawn head reaches almost one finger. It's clearly more than yesterday. A neat lace ring is what is left of the foamy lid after a while.
An intriguing scent: sweet rum, cane sugar, syrup, date, a small amendment of milk chocolate and distant cacao nibs. A gentle barrel nuance completes the list.
Beautiful sweet rum lands on the tastebuds and portrays loads of cane sugar, date, soaked barrel notes and faint raisin. Further elements include milk chocolate, cream and cacao nibs. And again, alcohol is entirely camouflaged. This is attractive!
The body is full. Rum and rum barrel give a brave punch in the end. The rum-related components are maintained but the chocolatey flavors can't carry this far.
The mouthfeel is full, deep, gentle, lip-glueing and barrel aged. Appealing roundness and smoothness. Really balanced, slow sipper and rewarding.

Advent Calendar #️⃣1️⃣2️⃣ from yesterday. This and the next two beers will be interesting: they have been aged in different barrels. The first one is Bourbon barrel aged with coffee.
Oily black beer. Murky. Flat carbonation, a very oppressed bronze lacing that dies immediately.
Soft Bourbon, cane sugar, a bit of cacao nibs and smooth coffee can be observed in the fragrance. Quite nice although not yet a banger.
Coffee gains massively more intensity on the tongue. Soft. Sweet. Lactose? Bourbon is restrained but surprisingly subtle with a twist of cane sugar. Cacao nibs, a pinch of milk chocolate, oak barrel notes and a hint of molasses. Alcohol is absent. That's the whole gustatory profile.
The body is full. Almost. It is full. The end lifts the Bourbon higher in the hierarchy with distinct barrel nuances escorting it. Cacao and chocolate increase equally.
The mouthfeel is full, relatively deep, intense and barrel aged. It's subtle, round, smooth and warming. Balanced! Looking forward to the other editions.
