Past post from last Sunday. In Arkansas, for a Saturday wedding. Of course, Ryan and I are going to some more breweries. Today's first brewery is Natural State Beer Company. Sharing our first ever flight of 12 beers. So many beers, none are on this website, so they will be excruciatingly short reviews. Damn!
The last of the 12 beers on this flight. Dark brown, translucent when held to the light. Roasted malt in both the aroma and the taste. Light texture. Sweet far in the background. Smokey flavor towards the end. Needs a fireplace and snow outside but I enjoy what they've brewed. Now on to the next Brewery.

This is beer 11 on this flight of 12. Opaque cranberry color. Can smell the cranberry. Starts sour of course then when the middle arrives it mellows out. The blackberry appears, a soft mildly sour sweet. Gently goes to the finish. I'm not a big sour fan but I like this one for the type of beer it is.

Have now gotten to the 10th beer on this flight of 12. This is another bitter beer but this one is more mellow and spread out. Grapefruit with a soft malt foundation. This one actually has some strong flavor and a little kick.

The ninth beer on a flight of 12. Soft texture. It won a gold medal at the 2021 GABF. Aroma of cornflakes. Flavor of corn and a honey sweetness. Then again the finish turns to a strong bitter that overwhelms everything. Still like it but only to a 3.7.

The 8th beer on this flight of 12 actually has a name, yay! A deep yellow clear color with the slightest traces of orange in it. Starts as a mild and soft lager, pretty good until the finish. Starts with a mild bitterness but then just get stronger and stronger. Again, an average beer that makes me glad that it's just half a taster.

A 7th beer on a flight of 12. Light yellow with modest Haze. Aroma gives wheat and lemon. Flavor continues this wheat flavor with lemon in the background. It's soft, it's smooth, and then the clove becomes apparent and pushes the other flavors to the background. I'm not fond of cloves especially when they're dominant.

Last beer on the first tray. It's a traditional bock, not a dunkler bock but that's the only bock I could choose. Light amber color, aroma reminds me a little of Shiner Bock. First taste says this is not Shiner Bock. The malt has a lemon pith quality. Didn't expect citrus to be there but did finish with some bittersweet Amber notes. My high hopes were crushed.

Fifth beer on this flight of 12. Not much originality in any of these beer names. Whatever. Beautiful red amber color. Strong roasted malt aroma. Flavor brings out that malt adding a toasted bread. Again finishes with an unwelcome slight bitterness in the background of the finish. Still, it's one of the best I've had since being here but it may be skewed by my disappointment in the others.

This is beer number four on a flight of 12 that Ryan and I are sharing. It's an India pale lager that has a distinctive grapefruit aroma. Flavor is all about grapefruit and nothing else. Has a huge hop bitterness that I cannot really enjoy. Plus it's not particularly good anyway.

Our third beer on this flight of 12. Of course it has a clear yellow color. A strong corn aroma. Typical crisp, smooth texture and then the expected bite of hop bitterness in the finish. Refreshing but I was really hoping for more uniqueness from a Czech lager.
