Enjoying watching the NHL 4 Nations Championship between the US and Canada. Really hard hitting so far. Came from the can really heavy with almost no head. Fight aroma of spice. Texture starts soft but turns a bit crisp toward the middle. Immediately get cinnamon with milk chocolate and very subtly the chilies appear. Leaves a bit of a chili burn in the back of the mouth. Finish continues a little spicy burn along with the milk chocolate. It's during the finish that the 11% alcohol starts to combine with the chilies that provides a long and lasting tingle in the throat. Even the milk chocolate seems to become stronger. Wasn't expecting much but this is a pretty good beer.

Having another beer with Ryan and my daughter via Duo but not the same beer tonight. The last two were so bad we couldn't end it like that. I'm having a Connecticut beer that I discovered. I need for this to be good. Totally opaque, almost black, brown color with an incredibly dark brown head. Aroma reveals vanilla, coffee and a whiff of chocolate. Good start. Texture is velvet, soft as a feather pillow. Semi sweet dark chocolate, vanilla, breakfast coffee laying in the background, and a delicate alcohol burn that seems less than 10.5%. It's all well balanced with none of the flavors competing with each other. The flavors remain the same in the middle and then again throughout the finish. Sipping this Stout, as I always do, it warms and still retains the same flavor without change. Now that's consistency. Thankfully it's a good one. Wish I had bought the four pack.
