The return of the murky weather calls for a return to dark beer, export India Porter. Not sure where it fits on the spectrum but first impressions make me think of black ipa.
Lucious pour with lots of foamy chocolate brown foam, sitting on a silky black body.
Aroma of black chocolate, roasted espresso with some brown sugar. There is what feels like faint traces of sweet hops, but it is merged with dried fruits and molasses. The two profiles phase in and out making it difficult to distinguish.
Mouthfeel is smooth, mildly foamy with a tiny amount of carbonation, which somehow lessens further with every sip.
Taste is peculiar, porter profiles meet ipa notes. Chocolate and coffee up front with a little ashen cinder in the back and then with sweet fruit following in the form of the dried currants and raisins. Brown sugar rounds and shifts everything back to the porter notes.
This feels like a decent porter with one peculiar flavour in the mix, rather than an entirely different style.

Dull looking can but it gives way to a nice looking beer.
Body is a nice light yellow with thick juicy haze, and two fingers of soft white foam that had moderate retention.
Scents of mandarin, mango and candied citrus peel, with only faint traces of pine at the end.
Mouthfeel is mostly foamy but has a little bite at thr start of each sip. The foam clashes a little with the juiciness and leaves a slick coating in the mouth and some carbonation resurfaces at the end.
Taste is mango and mandarin in lerfect harmony. The candied peel has faded and taken with it most of the pine leaving a lucious and juicy PA.
A very nice, juicy pale that I would definitely buy again.
