Still using my Real Ale glass in respect for the tragedy in the Hill country of Texas. The brewery is an Missouri City Texas, very close to where Ryan works. We had the 2020 version and I liked it a lot. Didn't produce much head on the pour. Aroma of prunes and whiskey. Texture was cola like, not heavy at all. Flavor profile starts with a heavy dose of oak barrel and an abundance of whiskey. Not surprising since it spent a year in a whiskey barrel. It was intense with almost no sweetness and only during the finish that I get the smallest apparition of chocolate. Finish also, for me, turned slightly sour. It rarely happens that Ryan and I have differing pallets. This is one. I did not very much care for this beer while he felt that it was okay. I'm glad we don't always agree. That would be boring. Perhaps it's my desire that my stouts have some level of sweetness. Or maybe I want something besides oak and whiskey in my beer. Oh well.

Watching the Astros in the World Series with my son-in-law. We Duo simultaneous beers and rate them. Him in Houston and me and Alabama. Dark brown, fluffy chocolate head. Aroma of alcohol and dark fruit. Not heavy texture. Flavor is of dark chocolate and dark fruit, bittersweet quality. Continues through the finish.

In Houston Texas with family having Hometoberfest today. Great day of college football. This one again is an Oktoberfest, has very little head on the beer. Medium dark and color and there's some haze to this. Aroma is an amber but adds some sourness. Texture is smooth and quickly turns to a bitterness and, along with notes of Marzen, some black pepper. Finish in sharp, dry and continues the peppery characteristics.

Back at my son-in-law's house in Houston Texas trying out some new Texas beers. Has almost no head. Clear, red amber color. Boozy alcohol aroma. Texture is soft, velvet smooth. A molasses type sweet. Bready malts. No carbonation. Finish seems flat, no flavor, boring.
