At Whiskey River Ranch kicking back and enjoying the end of the day. Nothing better than being surrounded by family. Guitar picking, singing and warmth fills the heart. Pours with a golden amber color. Almost clear. Aroma of chocolate and Amaretto. Flavor has a little kick. Some of the white chocolate with the Amaretto liqueur, and a little boozy. I even detect a little cool dinner mint. Late in the finish I may get faint traces of coconut and coffee. Not strong enough as you would think from its description. Very soft and smooth with very little carbonation. I have yet to find a Golden Stout that I'm crazy about. This is okay but it's not well balanced and the combination of flavors don't reveal themselves clearly but seem to take you in a different direction entirely.

A Carrollton, Texas beer I brought back so I could Duo with my son-in-law. Mexican chocolate, coffee, peanut butter, and bananas. Wow, I hope it's all in there. Dark brown pour, beige head that disappears quickly. Aroma is coffee dominant, secondary notes of chocolate and banana. Yay! Soft, creamy texture that leaves a fine sweet coating in the mouth. Flavors arrive in waves. Starts with a deep roasted sweet coffee. The Mexican cinnamon chocolate follows, pushing the coffee into the background. A very faint banana joins the chocolate in the middle. The finish drops the banana, keeps the Mexican chocolate and adds some small amounts of peanut butter. There are no negatives on this beer as presented. Flavors were there, but a more pronounced banana would have made it significantly better. And the peanut butter in the finish was very much in the background. Was never aware of the 8.5% alcohol. Gets a very good rating but it's ceiling could have been much higher.
