A nice, strong looking ipa. Body is a dark amber with an almost brown hue and a weak but consistent white head. Scent is almost wintery, lots of deep malts, caramel, sweet bread and dried fruits upfront. This is followed by lots of mango and mandarin with a deep fermented funk, all to a backbone of strong pine resin.
Mouthfeel is moderate touching on heavy. There is an initial crisp bite but it doesn't last as the weight and warmth of the body push it aside, leaving a foamy feeling in the mouth.
Taste is first a great mix of malts and hops before individual flavours start to come into their own. Sweet bread, mandarin, caramel, mango, malted barley, dried fruits all one after the other before they remerge into a dry, lingering aftertaste.
A very robust ipa, highly recommended.
