Rum and vanilla in the aroma. Taste has rum, lots of vanilla, a subdued hop bitterness, caramel, toffee and a sweetness from the malts used. Caramel, vanilla and oak linger in the aftertaste. Alcohol is very well hidden, but it's obvious that this isn't a low abv beer. Medium-full body with a medium-low amount of carbonation. This is tasty. I'm a sucker for beers aged in rum barrels when done right, and this one is. The sweetness of the rum cuts at the dryness that is typically associated with barley wines, but it's still there. I have no idea when this was bottled or released, but if I come across it again, I'd get it again. This would be a great addition to a beer share. I'd absolutely love it if they brew a version aged in both bourbon and rum barrels. 4/5
