Yuengling Dark Brewed Porter is an original speciality beer that has been brewed expressly for tavern owners and family trade since 1829. We are proud to be one of the largest Porter producers in the US. Our Porter calls for a generous portion of caramel and dark roasted malts which deliver a rich, full-bodied flavor and creamy taste with slight tones of chocolate evident in every sip.

For some reason the Yuengling Dark Brewed Porter is not widely available near me. Now I get a chance to try what is possibly the oldest porter brewed in the US.
Tan head seems to be lasting. Faint roasted malt aroma. Deep brown in color. Medium weight texture, effervescence on the tongue, has a slight salty bitterness. Taste has dark roasted malt and coming at the end is a raw cocoa. Finish is fast, has a clean compelling bitter quality with only the slightest chocolate.
Feels great to experience history with a porter that is simple, basic and can conquer the test of time. Very good.

All these years living here I've never tried their porter. So s & g's I figured it was time to try.
Right off the bat it definitely has that Yuengling malt taste to it. It also has some roasted malts, some chocolate and a little dark fruit.
Overall I'm impressed that they do make a pretty decent porter. 4.1 is accurate. The black & tan is still their best. Even better on tap which is common here especially in the winter.
