This is an interesting friend: an African cider that is not from South Africa.
The cider pours bright yellow. The lively carbonation creates a pure white head that rises up to one finger's height initially but dies hastily to flat still. It goes without saying that no traces are left behind.
As I sniff the cider, I encounter with rather hefty apple nectar that is also sweet. In addition, I unfortunately pick distant whispers of bubblegum and perfume. It's obvious that the olfactory supply is simple and relatively sweet but not oversweet though.
The tongue receives sweet apple juice. It's actually quite nice but it's really like juice, not at all cidery. Alcohol is nowhere, yet this is supposed to have 5 % ABV. If I try hard, I may also find a smaller injection of pear in the background.
The cider finishes unchanged and relatively fast although some juicy nuances stay longer on the taste receptors.
The mouthfeel is, first and foremost, extraordinarily juicy and soft-drink-like. It's also lip-glueing, a bit sappy and somewhat refreshing. Furthermore, the mouthfeel is truly simple and predictable.
Overall, a quite decent sweet cider; especially when compared to the lousy quality of the Mauritian supermarket beers, this is almost a pearl!
