A real cheapie from the local Dia supermarket: 40 cents a can. My expectations are low, or should I say that I have no expectations on this. Nevertheless, I wanted to see how bulls**t this beer can be. The beer pours transparent and light copper. The introvert, rapidly dying carbonation is able to produce a mere, visibly subdued, clean white head that dissolves soon to a hair-thin lace ring on top. The olfactory provision includes slightly sweet-leaning pale malt, somewhat strong bread and a tad biscuit, all seasoned with grapefruit pulp and bitter orange peel. Rather standard, quite what I expected, but so far reasonable. The palate puts forward strong pale malt, a generous amount of multigrain bread and some Digestives. The fruit of the fragrance have disappeared. Overall, the taste is slightly sweet but only to a certain level. The ABV of 8.0 % is detectable in the form of strong malty tanginess but not as alcohol as such, neither in the form of throat-warming character. This beer style is definitely not my favorite, on the other hand, I must admit that this beer rates actually quite favorably in its own category. Provided the give-away price, this is almost recommendable. The body is light-medium. The beer ends with slightly sweet, a bit tangy pale malt, hefty multigrain bread, a somewhat strong grainy aroma and a tad biscuit. The aftertaste remains in the mouth over medium duration. The mouthfeel is rather strong, a bit tangy and slightly sappy. I wouldn't, however, call this lip-glueing. It's also dangerously easy. NOTE that the barcode leads to Firestone Walker's "Fortem". I don't understand why as there should be no connection between the two.

Deliciosamente rica, fuerte y con un sabor un poco amargo muy agradable, de los que se quedan un tiempo. Unas de mis preferencias de las q hay que meter en la nevera de la playa.
