I'm hoping this DIPA can live up to the title.
-Colour, check. Nice copper, looks great.
-Carbonation, check. decent head and bubbles away nicely.
-Aroma, well, a hesitant check. The nose is mild, but has the necessary components. Pine, and a bit if citrus. Also a sweet caramel maltiness but as a background.
-Taste, sigh. Half check. I don't know folks, maybe it's just me. Maybe I've burnt out the hops receptors. Im getting there is a lot of hops but they come across as mildly fruity, with some pine and melon. But the malt has to much influence. Caramel and a bit of bready biscuit.
Over all it is a good beer, but just doesn't hit mark for style. It has a good amount of hops aftertaste but even that struggles against a big alcohol taste. Again maybe it's me. I've come to associate IPAs and DIPAs with bitterness, not just lots of hops. But as with most things the lines are blurring. That's fine just not what I'm used to.
