I was given this beer in a bottle exchange for one of my homebrew stouts as he hasn't brewed any himself in a while. Fair trade. Truly dark, black as a moonless midnight, this beautiful hopmare fuel show only just the slightest hint of Red in the thinnest part when put to the flashlight test. The head is a thick sticky mocha 2 1/2 fingers thick that eventually settles to a 1/2 finger that lasts the drink. Heavy pine laden aromas resinous and dank are the forward hops but some mango and tropical notes are obviously present. Roast caramel, ftoed fruit, plum, and some coffee are in the mix as well. The flavours are a wild mix of dark maltiness with and heavy hopping that leads to an almost sour dried fruit and plum taste with roast coffee and resinous hops aftertaste. Interesting brew.
