Our first dark beer is bold and flavorful, yet smooth and crisp in the classic Sapporo fashion. Sapporo Premium Black is crafted with roasted dark malts and a refined hop bitterness that is complemented by a sweet, round fullness and distinct coffee and chocolate flavors.

I have made the mistake of purchasing a Japanese beer on Memorial Day…. The price I am currently paying for not drinking a domestic beer to commemorate American veterans is grave…
In a moment where I was enamored with Sapporo Reserve, I decided to try to chase the same feeling by going back to the same liquor store I went to yesterday (“Drink Liquor” in the Inner Richmond area of San Francisco [very nice place actually]) and select the beer next to it… that being Sapporo Black. I do not generally like darker beers or anything Guinness adjacent. The first sip tasted like soy sauce which is an opinion I fear borders on racism.
If I was into dark beers, this actually wouldn’t be bad at all. It’s ironically on the lighter side of dark beers and can be consumed casually - a good entry point to those who want to experiment with the dark side.
That being said, I chose a Japanese beer on Memorial Day instead of an American one (despite Sapporo being brewed domestically). We’ll split the difference. God bless the veterans
