A wise man once said to me “never drink anything that come from a clear glass bottle”.... he wasn’t wrong.
Pours a deep mahogany almost black with a one finger frothy tan head that didn’t stay.
Nose initially has an abundant chocolate and coffee bouquet with hints of dried fruits and a tad of ferrous iron note.
Mouthfeel is thin and pretty lifeless
No big flavours come through but there’s a bit of a coffee hit at first; soon this has an underlying brief fruitiness that developed more into a cheep dry red wine quality. Then there’s a harsher but leaner lingering stick of liquorice to the finish.
Not a good example of this style.

I had this last night and forgot to log it. This beer pours black with a light brown head. Hold it up to the light and you can't see through it. The taste as it hits your mouth is quite sweet initially, with hints of coffee and chocolate, but these then lead to a more bitter, roasted malt finish which lingers. It'd be a great beer if the sweeter taste dominated but I think I'm going to have to stick to the imperial stouts for that.
