Rötlichdunkelbraun im Glas und kaum Schaumbildung; der in mm-Stärke vorhandene hat allerdings Ausdauer. Der Geruch erinnert an Rumtopf, verbunden mit erdigen und holzigen Noten. Er ist insgesamt aber weniger intensiv als erwartet. Der Antrunk ist sehr cremig und gefühlt fast klebrig. Sofort bestätigt sich der olfaktorische Eindruck: Rumtopf, dazu etwas Holz und sehr hintergründig Marzipan. Erdiges finde ich am Gaumen nicht wieder. Allerdings wird auch sehr schnell der nicht geringe Alkohol spür- und schmeckbar. Dieser wird aber zum Glück nicht dominant. Ich denke, dass dieser Barley Wine bei einem MHD 2028 sicher noch ausbaufähig ist. Aber auch jetzt schon kann man ihn als absolutes Genußbier empfehlen.

Little night cap from White Pony Microbrewery and S... Than Ever. Barley wine with ridiculous 15.1% abv. Best before 3/28. Could have waited with this one...? It pours hazy darker orange in color with about one fingers thick white head. The foam is quite airy with small bubbles. Dies out quickly leaving a ring on the sides, no detectable lacing. Aroma on the nose has sweet sugary scent, dried fruits, caramel malts, toffee and yeast. I can get also some spices. A bit boozy also because of that strong abv. Taste offeres caramel malts and toffee. There's dried fruits and apricot but not too sweet, could have been in my opinion. Alcohol is there but not in a disturbing way. Doesn't feel that strong. Warms up nicely though. Has a bit dry finish. This was my third barley wine. Need to step up my game with this style.

Tellement diabolique qu'on ne la sent pas venir 😮 Loin de paraître si forte, elle t'ennivre en te laissant un agréable goût caramélisé en bouche. À tester impérativement !
