Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #6
Canned in 2023
This is the first year No Rules has been able to be featured in the Advent Calendar. Prior to 2023 it was only sold in 22 oz. bottles, which doesn't meet the requirements. Now it's sold in 12 or 16 oz. cans, depending on the variant.
Coconut and sweetness from the turbinado sugar are both present in the aroma. No bourbon detected, which isn't uncommon for No Rules. Taste has... wow. No matter how many times I have this beer, the first sip still wows me. Taste has coconut and turbinado sugar starting it out, with the sugar being the more dominant flavor. The bourbon follows, adding a little bit of a bite to this and helps cut some of the sweetness. Truly perfection in a glass.
The body is full with a lower amount of carbonation, suitable for the style.
There's nothing I'd change about this beer and there's nothing I can think of to make this any better. They have double barrel aged this, and I love both equally for different reasons, but I wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other. 5/5

Sugar, cinnamon and bourbon in the aroma. Taste has turbinado sugar, cinnamon, coconut and bourbon. I know there's no cinnamon in this, but I'm tasting it. Medium-full body with lower carbonation. Slightly different each time it's made, but a perfect beer year after year. 5/5

We're moving to a bigger place tomorrow, so this will be the last beer I have in this apartment. Figured I'd pull out a great one.
This is definitely the best porter I've ever had, and it's probably one of the most unique porters that have been made. 15% abv, very desserty without being cloying, smooth mouthfeel, deceptively hidden alcohol (if I didn't know, and someone told me this was 9% abv, I'd believe them), bursting with flavors of coconut, turbinado sugar and bourbon. The body is full and the carbonation is appropriately low. I currently have 5 different years of this (2016-2020) and I can't wait to continue collecting for an epic vertical down the road.
It's been fun, but it's time to move onto the next chapter of my life. Cheers everyone! 5/5

Turbinado sugar and coconut in the aroma. Taste has the turbinado sugar and coconut right up front. Next, I'm getting some bourbon from the barrel aging. Some coffee notes are showing up as this warms up.
The body is full, with a thick and smooth mouthfeel and an appropriately lower amount of carbonation.
Once again they did a great job on this beer. Sweet, boozy, coconut perfection. Definitely doesn't taste like it's 15%. World class, 5/5

2019 vintage. Taste has coconut, turbinado sugar, coffee, and underneath all that sweetness is bourbon from the barrel aging. Very sweet, very desserty, and very delicious. Amazing and world class. Never disappoints. 5/5
