Schwarzbier means "black beer" in German. This dark brown-black lager could almost be described as Germany's answer to porter or stout, yet is much crisper and more refreshing. It goes great with hearty European and American cuisine- think sausages and roast meats. Its aromas of cocoa, espresso, and slight roast carry over to dark cooked fruit / raisin, mild clove-spice, and a fairly full mouthfeel that finishes dry. All in all a dark, clean lager of subtlety that is a quite refreshing.
