We're having some fun learning about new hop varieties this year and hope our customers are enjoying it too. Saphir is a new variety out of Germany. It was bred at the famous hop research institute at Hüll as a cross between Saaz and Fortschritt. It closely resembles the analysis of the classic German noble hops, but is more floral and fruity in its aroma profile. We used it at the same bitterness levels and aroma target amounts as we will with all of the single hop beers in this series. Weyermann's pilsner and Fawcett Crystal malts were used and the abv is 5.5%. Saphir hops were added 3 times to the brew.
