
Created by homebrewer Jason Cox of Pagosa Springs. It was the Best of Show at the 2011 County Fair homebrew competition. As such, it was selected as this year's Pro-Am (Professional / Amateur) entry. We took Jason's recipe and scaled it up from a 5-gallon homebrew size to a professional 170-gallon batch.
Old Kommie is brewed in the style of a Russian Imperial Stout, which is the darkest, richest, and most intense of all the stouts. It's got massive amounts of dark and caramel malts, yet with enough bitterness for balance… making it amazingly smooth and quaffable. На здоровье! (Na zdorovie!)
