This perfectly balanced Porter was made popular in the 18 and 19 centuries by common folk who worked an honest day's work. The Quiet Man, a movie directed by John Ford, featuring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, accounts the life of common Irish folk in a small hamlet called Innisfree. The movie features a famous bar fight where the two main characters took some time out to have a few "black beers" before resuming their fight. Porters almost went extinct in America. But, thankfully, were revived in the mid 1970's. This porter is one of our brewery favorites.
