HBC's latest seasonal offering is our interpretation of a classic Belgian Golden Strong Ale.The beer pours a rich gold to copper color with a nice, long-standing foam that laces beautifully in the glass. The aroma is classic Belgian, with plenty of phenolic spiciness and sweet fruit (we got apricot, pear, and a little plum) that carries over into the flavor, but washes away cleanly with each sip. Trappist yeast character plays very nicely with the Mosaic dry-hops, which seem to tone down the Belgian yeast flavors and improve drinkability. The beer finishes nice and dry with just a hint of alcohol sweetness, but does well to mask the 6.9% ABV.
