Brewed in the tradition of the delicious and quaffable stouts of Ireland, this beer leads with a smooth roast character that ends in a slightly tangy chocolate finish. Unlike typical stouts that feature roasted barley as the prime suspect, this stout accuses Midnight Wheat malt for imparting a softer roast character that doesn't linger harsh or bitter on the palate. Its main accomplices are Black Prinz roasted malt and a touch of acidulated malt to provide a creamy tanginess that makes it hard to blame the almost criminal smoothness of this beer on any one ingredient at large. Hops play second fiddle in this drama; doing little but provide the bitterness necessary to balance the dark malt character. One sip and we're sure you'll want one for each hand. Slainte!
