Another spring beer that has to go now that the summer is here. This boasts to be an "Imperial Saison". The ABV clocks as bold as 12.2 %. I must admit that I'm scared. 😱 The beer is cloudy copper. Mild carbonation fails to raise anything else than a mediocre big-bubbled lace ring on the sides and soon even it is gone. The scent displays ripe and canned fruits. Mandarin and apricot come to my mind first. Wheat is surely in the background, and it's not particularly fresh. The taste profile is a messy medley of mandarin, apricot, resin and alcohol. Maybe also a bit of persimmon. Very ripe and canned fruity. Wheat malt does its strange moves in the shadows. Sounds delicious but let me assure you: not attractive at all. It's heavy and closed. And boozy. The body is medium to medium-full. More robust than I thought. Thumbs up for that! The finish puts forward alcoholic and still ripe, overripe and canned fruity flavors. And wheat, of course. Interestingly, I can now also pick some citruses like... ok, mandarin is a citrus, but some other citruses like lemon pith and a drop of grapefruit zest. The finish doesn't improve from upfront but doesn't deteriorate either. Quite a long duration. The mouthfeel is intense, strong, tangy and rather boozy. It's also heavy, musty, flat and closed. Demanding. Absolutely demanding. If this was an IPA, it would be Quadruple. How would a Quadruple Saison sound like? Yes, exactly! That's what I mean. Only pervs like this. I was first like wtf is this? Then I sip and sip. More and more. Eventually, I start to like this. Well, not exactly "like" but tolerate. Not my favorite but the bottle is actually empty now. Am I a perv? You decide.

Vaahdoton, pientä pitsiä lukuunottamatta. Vaalean ruskea/ palanut tumma oranssi, aavistuksen samea. Makeahko siirappisen kukkainrun tuoksu. Hieman makea. Pitkä tasaisen katkero kulkee alkoholin kanssa käsi kädessä. Lämmittää kyllä kivasti.

En tiedä kuuluuko tämän olla tällaista, mutta hapoton Saison? Aika tiukkaa tavaraa, makua riittää mutta hapottomuus ja alkoholin läpi iskeminen häiritsee.

Kuohkea 3 sormen paksuinen lähes heti häviävä vaahto sameassa ruskehtavassa, täyttävässä ja lämmittävässä oluessa. Ensi puraisussa belgi hiiva ja aivan yököttävät maut jotka muuttuvat täysin huipuiksi muutamassa sekunnissa tai sen osissa. Hedelmäinen, kuiva, happoinen, pirteä, luumuinen ja muitakin kuivattuja hedelmiä. Purevaa. Hedelmäinen, humalamainen, kukkamainen, raikas ja mausteinen.
