We’ve met up with our good friends at Stroud Brewery. The log burner has been cranked up, the wood fired pizza oven is on and the band is nearly ready to rock. Great place. The OPA (Organic Pale Ale) here is very good. It’s clear and wholesome - genuinely tasting like it’s doing you good. It’s refreshing and balanced with a mildly bitter finish. Not a world beater, but a great beer to get on it. The hops come through gently and you could bang down a sack load of these.

Rural Free House - possibly the three best words in the English Language. I'm not sure you can beat sitting in a Cotswolds pub, overlooking rolling hills with a good, honest pint of locally brewed beer. This is decent quality Pale Ale with a straw coloured golden hue. It's very quaffable and has hints of toffee malt and a slightly sweet aftertaste. The Woolpack was the author Laurie Lee's local. Raised a glass as he's in the churchyard opposite. Cheers.
