At first glance, I wouldn't have thought this was Belgian. Once i get close enough I can see clearly, 'product of Belgium'. Smooth pour, body of golden yellow with trace amounts of white foam and decent carbonation. Scent is upfront malt, wet drought bread with some salty cracker too cut through. At the end there's the slightest sweet tinge, like oatmeal. It's a medium bodied beer, carbonation is firm but not overpowering, and is swiftly balanced by the light foam. Tastes of muddled cereals at first, a little barley and oats, mild wheat and a lot of watery grass. Faint citrus hops can be found but over all this is malty as promised. Nice satisfactory beer, especially for the price, but for some reason I was expecting something more. I think I place Belgian beer on a pedestal so when they make something 'regular', it might seem somehow less. I mean, it's a fine pils but I don't think it's super.
