4.9
To the eye, it pours an opaque, motor-oil black—deceptively fluid in the stream, yet resting heavy in the glass.
The nose is dominated by rich bourbon barrel character, layering warm oak over a gorgeous aroma of burnt sugar and dark caramel.
Despite its initial visual lightness on the pour, the palate reveals a remarkably full, velvety body. It opens bold and boozy—as expected at 15% ABV—with deep cocoa, subtle peat smoke, and a nuanced oak finish that lingers well past the sip. An absolutely outstanding porter.
While it falls just short of a perfect score (my heart still belongs to the barrel-aged stout lineup from Brouwerij Kees), this easily earns a 4.9 / 5.
