Inspired by a homebrew, Chris made a maple vanilla doppelbock. This one pours dark caramel with a creamy head. Malty and full-bodied, sweet biscuit, maple, and mild vanilla aromas eminate from the glass. Roasty malt and maple syrup flavors arrive first, with vanilla and mild lager yeast ester fruitness eventually making a showing. If you like flavor, this one's got it in spades.
This mapley doppelbock will pair well with a roasted duck or goose. Try substituting the usual sour ale with some of Chris' beer in a Belgian carbonade flamande. Or, just enjoy with a chunk of smoked swiss, and maple-candied walnuts
