I am shocked. I was sure that I had rated this beer before. Bought it in November of 2021. It's waited a long time, hope it's still good. At 11.8% it probably is. Strong aroma, sweet, I do get to caramel. Has a pretty heavy texture. The malt is a roasted earthy chocolate or cocoa. More bitter than salty. The back end does reveal the caramel. By the third shift the flavor evolves. The caramel starts to dominate the chocolate and I have to admit it is now more of a salty type bitterness. The alcohol is there but not powerful as you would expect for 11.8%. Finish also is beginning to turn dry. I was worried about this beer because we gave up on Saloon Door when they started using so many additives and not the real material. I'm not getting any of that with this one but maybe that's because it's 5 years old. I'm enjoying it.
