My Saturday nightcap is an opaque, jet black beer. Small wonder. Oppressed carbonation. A bronze foam with a height of one finger. Melts down, of course. An appealing scent: sweet-leaning whisky, vanilla, soaked barrel, a smaller dose of syrup, dark plum, a twist of blackcurrant and remote caramel. Promises a gentle gustatory journey. But is it gentle? It's both gentle and bold at the same time. The parameters include very soft mature whisky and barrel notes, vanilla is obvious in their proximity. The rest of the concoction is composed of date, purple plum, raisin, syrup, caramel, toffee and faint cream. Not sure if the earlier blackcurrant hides away or not, as if I still could spot it occasionally, but then again, not. The body is full, though not huge. The finish is sweet syrupy with many of the earliest components still neatly present. Whisky included. Or whisky especially. Alcohol is detectable but not disturbing at all. The mouthfeel is full, barrel aged, deep and rich. Surprisingly soft and smooth. And relatively intense. Lip-glueing and moderately warming, too. A delicious piece, for sure!

Scent of coffee, dark chocolate, syrup, leather and scottish whiskey. Full and sweet body. Sweetened dark malts mostly on the body. Aftertaste adds first some burned dark malts. Whiskey is there, though politely on the background. After a while plum marmalade and red wine added. Faint coffee tones also. Very interestingly layered and keeps the alcohol content very well, it not being the on the background but rather on the back bone. Good dessert.
