Creamy Dark
4.9% Dark Lager
Our most award-winning beer, Leinenkugel's® Creamy Dark is brewed with a special blend of seven malts for a rich, nutty cocoa flavor and crisp finish. That makes it one deliciously dark, surprisingly smooth brew. Hey, the name says it all. In 2005 and 2006, Creamy Dark won a Gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival® in the American-style Dark Lager category. In 2002, 2008 and 2013 it won the Silver in the American-style Dark Lager category, and in 2004 received the Bronze in the American-style Dark Lager category.

Not super bitter. Nutty notes. Enjoy the berry black bear mix as well (ie mixed with the berry Weiss)

This has light roasted malt with hints of light chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. It is a bit watery. Now I think this is a re-review as when scanning it comes up as Creamy Dark. This is listed as just Dark Lager. I think they are the same with different packaging. I don’t know why I rated so low before. I thinks it’s pretty tasty now. Just not great. I don’t know if the recipe changed or maybe just my taste.

This is very watered down for the style. Has a corn taste with some coffee. So a little on the sweet side. Just not much there to judge on. Leinenkugel's beers seem to follow the same recipe as they venture towards good styles of beers but seem to always come up weak. I expected much more from this one but then it is a Leinenkugels.

I'm getting a very light bit of coffee in the aroma and malts. Taste has a faint chocolate and a super light bit of coffee. While the little bit of flavor I'm getting tastes good, there's not much to it. I'm not one to knock a beer for the company it's made by, like many reviewers do. I don't plan on starting today. That being said, I know Leinenkugel's can do better if they wanted to. As an introduction to craft beer, this is great. As a craft beer, this needs work. 3/5
