We're calling this beer 53207 as a tribute to the ZIP code in Bay View.
It's a 5.0% California Common, but we prefer it be known as a Milwaukee Common. A "Common" is made with lager yeast, which typically favor colder fermentation around 53 degrees fahrenheit, whereas ale yeasts ferment around 70 degrees fahrenheit. The result is more aggressive yeast esters and a MUCH faster fermentation.
The archetype of the style is Anchor Steam, however they've trademarked "Steam Beer," so anything made in this style is called a Common. Fairly hoppy for the style, it also definitely has some assertive esters from the yeast.
